She’s both an extravert and an introvert

Are you an introvert or an extravert? If you’re an introvert, you tend to recharge by spending time alone, while extraverts gain energy from other people.

For TDS’ Kathleen Holmes, supervisor of Direct Sales, she’s both.

Kathleen’s extravert time is when she’s working in sales out of the Berthoud office in Colorado. Her introvert time is when she’s painting and creating beautiful artwork.

“I have always loved painting,” she said. To wind down after a long day at work, she said she enjoys “turning on the music and simply painting. It’s very relaxing for me.”

Kathleen’s favorite type of artwork to paint is impressionism and she especially enjoys painting with bright colors. “Painting really keeps my creative side active,” she said. “It’s not unusual for me to come up with ideas for my team while I paint.”

Kathleen studied Commercial Art from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. While Kathleen thought about a career in art, and dreamed of being a cartoonist for Disney, it was her mother who encouraged her to go into something “more stable.”

After working for several years and raising a family, it was her husband who inspired her to pick up painting again. He bought her art supplies and she decided the time was right to return to painting.

Kathleen has had a few people ask her if her work is for sale. She says she might consider going into business to sell her artwork, but for now she’s happy with painting as a hobby.

Organizing events for the Johnstown-Milliken Chamber of Commerce, including the Taste of Johnstown, is something Kathleen also enjoys doing. She’s an ambassador for the chamber and is the official ribbon cutter for grand openings.

Her husband is a culinary director and is an “amazing cook.” The two enjoy singing karaoke and hanging out with their three dogs. They have four kids and six grandkids—two of her children live in the state of Washington and two live in Minnesota.
