As of June 10, 2021, TDS will no longer carry the AMC Network on our channel lineups. These channels include AMC, BBC America, We tv (Women’s Entertainment), BBC World News, IFC, and Sundance.
As with every contract negotiation, TDS looks for a fair and reasonable agreement. AMC launched AMC+, a direct to consumer streaming service last year. AMC+ customers receive exclusive AMC content and early access to favorite “best of AMC” shows and acclaimed movies.
TDS does not agree with AMC’s decision to move valued content from live TV distribution to distribution exclusively on their streaming service. Asking cable subscribers to pay more while the AMC Network carves out highly valued content and delivers less to cable subscribers is not fair or reasonable.
Now that TDS is losing the AMC networks, I hope or assume customers will get new additional channels. Two channels I watched often were Sundance and IFC. Based on what customers currently pay monthly according to the channel line-up, either replacement channels or reduction in cost needs to be addressed. Customer may need to look for alternative sources for Cable and Internet.

Thank you, Cheryl
I applaud your decision. Discovery should be next to go. Unless these programmers who have built a business on the backs of MVPD’s and their subscribers now want to take their good programming direct to consumers. To compensate, their pay TV rates should be substantially reduced at the very least.
So we will not be receiving AMC or BBC at all?
Will TDS make an adjustment to our monthly rate?
I remember years ago we did not receive ABC and TDS was going to make it right. Did not happen!
Correct, TDS has reached an impasse with AMC Networks and until AMC agrees to distribute its programming fairly, these channels are not on the air.
Due to programming cost trends, it’s not likely. We are in constant negotiations with programmers, so it’s more likely any savings from AMC will help offset future content cost increases.
While these negotiations were on going, proactive management would’ve had some alternative channels ready to implement just in case something like this happened. It appears TDS did not do this. They’re going to wait for each person to call in and request specific channels, then maybe TDS will say yes we will give you what you are requesting or another alternative. TDS May believe most people will not call and just let this ride out, so extra money will be going in the coffers. I hope many people do call or request something pertaining to this. I know I’m already investigating alternative cable and Internet services. I hope it’s not necessary.
Hi Louis, We do plan to launch some channels later this year. We also launched several new channels in a variety of communities in the spring. https://blog.hellotds.com/channel-launches/ Thank you for being a customer. Cheryl
