TDS Cares in the communities we serve

In a year full of challenges, TDS found creative ways to give back to the communities we serve.  Giving back is an integral part of the culture at TDS. From hands-on volunteering, to in-kind and financial support, TDS takes a vested interest in the growth and success of the communities we serve. In fact, community involvement is so imperative to our core beliefs that we started the “Be Good Citizens” program, which provides employees with 16 hours of paid time off every year to volunteer.

Here are a few ways TDS recently gave back:

Colorado
In recognition of the 35 years ChildSafe Colorado has been providing hope and healing to children who suffer from abuse and neglect, TDS recently donated $1,000 to this comprehensive, community-based organization.

To provide a more child-safe environment, TDS employees also volunteered their time to rake, landscape, and clean the grounds of the ChildSafe Colorado headquarters in Fort Collins.

New Mexico
Earlier this year, TDS made a $5,000 donation to the beautification efforts in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Carlsbad, New Mexico

“We very much appreciate this generous donation made by TDS,” said Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway. “We believe Carlsbad has beautiful parks and outdoor recreational areas. We plan to use this donation to make improvements to the upper beach area of the Lake Carlsbad Recreational Area. These updates will not only enhance the quality of life for our residents, but for the people who visit Carlsbad. Thank you, TDS.”

TDS also donated $600 to the Carlsbad Police Department and Eddy County Sheriff’s Department who ran for 48 hours straight for a fundraiser for the Special Olympics on April 9-11. TDS sponsored an officer for all 12 legs of the event for $600.

Utah
TDS sponsored an internet safety for children program at the Washington County Children’s Justice Center. TDS gave away drawstring backpacks and also internet safety cooling books.

#TDSCARES was back in action partnering with local businesses to support SwitchPoint, a family resource center. The groups collected and donated diapers to the program. In April, the field marketing team donated $350 worth of hygiene supplies to RRCI: Empowering People with Disabilities. The organization helps people live independently through education, personalized services, and technology.

TDS also recently sponsored the kite festival, a reading program where children earn points to then get kites. TDS has supported Dixie State University athletics, including football, basketball, and baseball and the SUU basketball and football teams.
