TDS donated $6,000 to local nonprofits during Week of Giving

TDS gave back big time in Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah as part of the company’s new Week of Giving campaign. Themed giving events were held throughout TDS markets during the week of Nov. 28 to Dec. 2.

“The Week of Giving is our way of going above and beyond our normal philanthropy,” said TDS Senior Administrator of Field Marketing Tariq Bhatti. “We showed our appreciation for our schools, first responders, and those experiencing food insecurities during this holiday season.”

TDS is donating to more than 100 organizations across the country for its Week of Giving, over and above its previous giving. TDS’ Field Marketing teams coordinated the following donations:

  • On Cyber/STEM Monday, TDS donated $1,000 to Carson Middle School’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) program in Fort Carson, a camcorder to the Alamogordo High School Multimedia Program, and $500 for a flight simulator for Utah Tech University’s STEM program.
  • On Giving Tuesday, TDS donated $1,000 to the Johnstown Downtown Development Association Toy Drive and bus passes and gas cards to Switchpoint Community Resource Center in St. George.
  • On Thankful Thursday, TDS bought lunch for first responders at the Emergency Health Services – Estes Park Health and delivered Sweet Land of Liberty popcorn baskets to law enforcement and first responders in Washington County, Utah.
  • On Food Pantry Friday, TDS donated $500 worth of food items to the Weld Food Bank for residents in Weld County and $250 to the Utah Tech Food Pantry to help students who are experiencing food insecurities.

“These past few years haven’t been easy, so we wanted to do a little more for the people and organizations who make our communities so great,” said Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen.

One of the company’s core values is giving back to the communities it serves through TDS Cares initiatives. TDS Cares initiatives occur throughout the year, and through the Be Good Citizens program, TDS provides associates with 16 hours of paid time off every year to volunteer at the 501c3 organization of their choice.
