TDS launches fiber network to first customers in Santa Clara, Utah

TDS Telecommunications (TDS®) is launching its fiber-to-the-home network to its first few hundred customers this week in Santa Clara, Utah. Over the next few months, more locations will be added to its fiber network throughout the city.

In May, TDS announced it was bringing 2Gig (2000 Mbps) internet, TV, and phone service to nearly 2,500 addresses to Santa Clara. When the project is complete, TDS will blanket nearly the entire community of Santa Clara with its fiber network.

“Customers are seeking a fast, reliable internet connection and the TDS’ fiber network aims to deliver,” says Andrew Petersen, TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs. “We are pleased to offer Santa Clara residents 2Gig service and help them enable their homes for the future.”

TDS will deliver symmetrical internet speeds up to 2Gig, its next-generation TDS TV®+, and a variety of phone options. TDS TV®+ is a cloud-based service and combines live TV—broadcast regional sports content, and national cable channels—with streaming services like Netflix*.

Business customers can choose internet access and transport connections up to 10Gig via dedicated fiber and TDS managedIP, a hosted Voice over IP (VoIP) communications solution. TDS TV® is also available to business customers in the fiber footprint.

Since 2013, when TDS acquired Baja Broadband, TDS has invested more than $146 million in the network of our Santa Clara-St. George communities.

”These investments are definitely paying off,” said Petersen. “With speeds up to 2Gig, even when downloading a movie, video gaming or conference calling, everyone and every device in your home will have incredibly fast connection speeds all at the same time.”
