Holiday giving and TDS go hand-in-hand

No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another – Charles Dickens

All across our markets, TDS employees are providing joy this holiday season.  Everything from riding along on a TDS float in the Christmas Parade, donating food to the local pantry, sponsoring Santa’s Workshop, and providing non-profit organizations with free or reduced internet.  TDS employees are jumping in and helping those less fortunate in their communities.

“Giving back is a huge part of our company’s culture and our employees freely give their time to worthy causes; not just during the holidays, but all year long.” said Drew Petersen, SVP of Corporate Affairs.

Check out where TDS is giving back:

Alamogordo, New Mexico
Congrats to TDS employees for taking third place (out of 60 entrants) in the float category during the annual Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade. Alamogordo was transformed into a Christmas wonderland during the annual parade.

Bend, Oregon
A favorite program of BendBroadband is its Community Partners Program. Each year, BendBroadband provides about 40 nonprofits with free or reduced internet and video services. To highlight this program, BendBroadband promotes a few of the nonprofits that are served with its Month of Giving: Connecting our Community campaign.

Field Market Manager Courtney Ross developed the idea last year and with help from marketing and public relations, kicked off the second annual campaign in Bend on Dec. 1. The program includes 12 blog and social media posts about the nonprofit on the BendBroadband social media sites. The nonprofits are thrilled to receive the extra publicity that shows how they serve the community. End of year donations are huge for nonprofits and any extra facetime with donors is always welcome.

Along with its Month of Giving campaign, BendBroadband employees participate in a food collection campaign for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.

Carlsbad, New Mexico
A team of TDS staff helped out at the TDS booth of the Carlsbad Winter Wine Festival, which is part of the annual Christmas on the Pecos.

Lancaster, Wisconsin
TDS partnered with the WGLR Holiday Auction and provided telephones and six-line phone banks to the annual holiday auction event. The auction supports a family at Christmas who may need medical assistance, experienced a catastrophic event, or simply struggled to make ends meet this year. This action raised about $17,000 which will pay bills and/or buy groceries and other necessities for the chosen family.

Lewisport, Kentucky
TDS donated to the Lewisport Christmas Parade and its Miracle on Main Street toy giveaway project.

Madison, Wisconsin
TDS headquarters are based in Wisconsin.  A dozen non-profit organizations received hundreds of dollars in gift cards, barrels of food, boxes of toys, pet supplies, and numerous household items through donations from employees. The annual tradition of giving back included groups such as: Toys for Tots, Domestic Abuse Intervention, Dane County Humane Society, Porchlight Angels, Salvation Army, and Independent Living.

Mesquite, Nevada
TDS joined the Fourth Annual Parade of Lights Food Drive event in Mesquite and donated 15 pounds of canned food to the Salvation Army and the Virgin Valley Food Bank.

Prineville, Oregon
BendBroadband’s construction team hung holiday lights in Prineville.

St. George, Utah
TDS employees volunteered at the annual Coin for Kids wrapping party at the Dixie Convention Center in St. George, Utah. Coins for Kids provides gifts for families in need during the holiday season. Last year, Coins for Kids helped 1,800 children!

TDS promoted the Toys for Tots annual toy drive locally and on its Facebook page.

TDS provided free internet for the Root for Kids Radioathon. The funds generated during the event support Root for Kids’ early intervention programs and assist in strong beginnings for every child born in Washington County.

Tennessee
TDS supported the Light the Park event in Hollis, Tennessee, along with sponsoring the Christmas Parade and a half marathon in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. TDS’ Country Christmas parade float entry, complete with Hee-Haw Barn and Tow Mater pulling the float, took first place in the Commercial Float award.

Whitestown, Indiana
TDS is a community partner of the Santa Parade in Whitestown. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at the Whitestown Municipal Complex and where kids can visit with him and meet his reindeer. Families receive a souvenir photo and children enjoy cookies, hot chocolate, and a candy buffet. Santa will board a truck with the Whitestown Fire Department for the parade.

Winsted, Minnesota
TDS and Clicky participated in the Winterfest Parade in Winsted. TDS sponsored and volunteered with the children-painting activities for the community event.
