TDS holds Week of Giving campaign

From sparking curiosity in young minds by supporting STEM learning opportunities, to donating essential wellness items and volunteering at local food banks, TDS associates demonstrated an unwavering commitment to uplifting their communities during the third annual Week of Giving.

One of TDS’ core values is giving back to the communities it serves. Themed TDS Cares giving events were held throughout the company’s service areas from Monday, Dec. 2 through Friday, Dec. 6—including Cyber/STEM Monday, Giving Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday, Thankful Thursday, and Food Bank Friday. In total, the Week of Giving generated over $100,000 to local charities and organizations and included approximately 100 philanthropic activities.

“Supporting our TDS communities has never been more important,” said Drew Petersen, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs. “Whether showing this support through in-kind donations, financial assistance, or our associate’s philanthropic efforts, we hope this Week of Giving will inspire others to give back to their own communities throughout the holiday season.”

Here is a sampling of some of the events that took place throughout the week:

On Cyber/STEM Monday, TDS associates championed STEM and educational programs across the country. In Nampa (Idaho), TDS donated laptops to the Breaking Chains Academy of Development to enhance the organization’s educational services and reach more young people in need.

On Giving Tuesday, TDS associates gave back to organizations that make an impact in their communities, including the Milliken and Johnston (Colo.) police departments’ toy drive.

On Wellness Wednesday, TDS assisted organizations that support the health, wellbeing, and safety of fellow community members. In Billings (Mont.), TDS donated $1,000 and partnered with the Billings Clinic Foundation to serve hot chocolate to patients, family members, and front-line staff.

Thankful Thursday saw TDS associates focus on impactful organizations and causes in their communities, such as the Disabled American Veterans of Green Bay, Wis., an organization supporting ill and injured veterans.

On Food Bank Friday, the Central Wisconsin TDS team donated $3,000 to Peyton’s Promise, an organization that collects and delivers food to 55 pantries in the region.

We’re proud to hold TDS Cares initiatives all year long. And through the Be Good Citizens program, TDS provides associates with 16 hours of paid time off every year to volunteer at the 501c3 organization of their choice. Check out our Community Involvement page for more on our efforts to give back.
