The speed upgrades will be first of many improvements in TDS’ cable communities
MADISON, Wis. (April 14, 2022)—TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is increasing download speeds to 18,000 customers in St. George, Utah. Since investing millions to upgrade the entire cable network to DOCSIS 3.1, which allowed the launch of 1Gig internet, customers in southern Utah who had older speeds are receiving faster internet speeds to improve their online experience. In southern Utah, TDS has invested more than $150 million in network upgrades since 2013 when TDS acquired Baja Broadband.
Most customers with speeds below 100 Mbps are now getting up to 100 Mbps and customers previously at 100 Mbps are receiving up to 300 Mbps. A new modem may be necessary for some customers to allow for faster internet speeds. These improvements will be communicated to customers directly in the coming weeks.
“This positive development reflects our commitment to our customers in the St. George area,” Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen. “We know online demands are increasing and our customers deserve reliable high-speed internet.”
The upgrades will allow individuals to connect more devices to the internet, enjoy higher-quality video streaming, and improve their overall online experience especially as more people work and take classes from home. For customers who want even faster internet speeds, TDS offers speeds up to 600 Mbps and 1Gig in these communities.
“Giving back is an integral part of our culture at TDS,” said Petersen. “We do more than provide internet, TV, and phone services. We give back to the communities we serve through business investments, philanthropic donations, and volunteering.”
Our TDS associates volunteer locally from sorting food at the Utah Food Bank, to hosting a Cornhole Tournament fundraiser benefitting Root for Kids and the Utah Pacific Islanders Coalition, to cleaning and painting at the Washington County Children’s Justice Center.
In the last year, TDS also donated to the Housing Action Coalition in Washington County ($20,000), the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument ($5,000), Roots for Kids, and the St. George Children’s Museum, as well as donated critical supplies to RRCI: Empowering People with Disabilities to name a few.
TDS plans to upgrade speeds to more than 81,000 customers in our cable communities throughout the country in the coming months.
