5 Apps you need on your next road trip

Summer is the prime time for road trips! If you’re looking for fun sights to see, cheap gas stations, or methods of splitting trip costs I have the apps for you.

  1. iOverlander

iOverlander is the free app for everything. It features a database of places for camping, restaurants, hotels, mechanics, propane filling, and so much more. Looking for a free shower on the road? No problem. The app even gives details about each location like photos, the last date visited, and the GPS coordinates. But the best part? This app can be used in dozens of countries, not just the United States.

  1. Roadtrippers- Trip Planner

This app is the ultimate go-to. Discover local diners, roadside attractions, and scenic points you would have never known about otherwise. They even include pre-made road trip guides for the spontaneous trip takers looking for inspiration. One of the most beneficial aspects is the gas calculating feature so you can always set an accurate budget.

Splitwise makes splitting costs simple. Whether your splitting overnight stay costs, gas, or food, just log it in Splitwise and everyone can see much my money they owe. This app supports over 100+ currencies and 7+ languages.

If you love the outdoors, AllTrails is perfect for you. AllTrails has over 200,000+ hand-curated trail maps for the best hiking, running, and bike trails around the world. Filter what you’re looking for by dog friendly, kid friendly, and wheelchair friendly trails to find your perfect adventure.

  1. Geocaching

Geocaching is the world’s largest treasure-hunting community. All around the world there are clever little containers called geocaches and this app give you riddles that can lead you right to them. Depending on the size of the cache you find, there may be an opportunity to take a souvenir and leave your own for the next traveler. Log all the caches you find in the app and see what others had to say about them.
