Professional life: Nathan Johnson started working as a field services technician and is now a manager of Field Services. He has worked for TDS for eight years.
Hometown: Nathan has lived in the Southern Utah nearly his entire life. He now lives in Cedar City.
Volunteer service: Nathan volunteers his time coaching a 10-year-old boys soccer team with the Utah Surf Soccer Club, one of the largest competitive soccer programs in Utah. His 10-year-old son is on the team. The team practices three times a week, with Saturday games.
Nathan enjoys coaching soccer because it “teaches camaraderie, perseverance, and endurance.” Along with the physicality of soccer, it also provides a great deal of hand/eye coordination. “I enjoy how soccer is oriented towards team play versus individual play.”
Along with tournaments throughout the area, Nathan said the team always competes in the Utah Summer Games. “Last year, we won Gold at the Summer Games. While this past summer, the team didn’t repeat winning the Gold, we competed very well there.”
As part of TDS’ Be Good Citizens, Nathan has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Southern Utah and has done renovation work at the Washington County Children’s Justice Center.
